So starting today, we’re sunsetting the Tap Tap games from the app store and removing the premium Tap Tap content from availability to users. With the ever changing mobile and music markets it no longer makes sense for us to maintain the Tap Tap franchise. It’s been over 5 years since the screen pounding music game phenomenon Tap Tap first launched from the small Palo Alto offices of Tapulous, and it’s been a roller coaster ride that we’re extremely sad to say is coming an end. announced via a Facebook post on the Tap Tap Revenge page that the company, after 5 years running, shut down and removed all its remaining games from the App Store and Google Play Market, writing: Tap Tap Revenge was originally created by Tapulous which was absorbed into Disney Mobile in July, 2010. There are also "shakes", which require the player to move the iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad to the right, left, or middle. If the ball is hit on the beat, the player gains points, but if not, it counts as a miss. The goal of the game is to tap each of the colored balls when they reach a line at the bottom of the screen. Development for the game began prior to the release of the iPhone SDK, and was originally entitled Tap Tap Revolution. It is the first game in Tapulous' Tap Tap series.

While the music selection may not be the kind of music I listen to I can not deny that this game is great value. Also you can earn in game currency by playing the game as well. I am not really into the whole in game buying thing, but I felt the pricing here was quite reasonable.
Of course if you want songs from top acts like Katy Perry or whoever else is big these days then you will need to buy song packs in the in game store.

Now I will admit that most of these free songs are from artists that are not exactly mainstream (although there are a few) But this is a great way of introducing people to a new artists. If that is not enough there is tons of free songs as well. Well Tap Tap Revenge gives you an incredible 300 songs to start you off with. What amazes me about this game is that I am sure that you are probably thinking (like I was) that you would probably get a couple of songs then need to buy the rest. If this is your kind of thing then no problem. But the down side is that most of the songs are the top 40 style songs. It is good because no company has deep pockets like Disney do so the amount of songs at your disposal is absolutely staggering. And as Disney are the guys behind this that is both good and bad. Song choice is always key in a game like this. While it is not the most in depth story in the world I felt that it did a fantastic job in making you want to play the game even more and it gives the game much more personality than if you were simply just required to play song after song without any reason to do so. The idea is that you are in a band and need to work your way up from opening act to headlining mega star. Which is pretty much your single player career mode like you would have in a game like Guitar Hero or Rock Band.

The big thing that has been added to this instalment in the Tap Tap series is the tour mode. It is so addictive that what was supposed to be a five minute gaming session can easily turn it to a hour. A song will play and notes will fall from the top of the screen you need to tap these notes as they touch the same style of note at the bottom of the screen. If you are one of the 3 people in the world who are not familiar with a music game let me explain. Of course all that matters in a game like this is song choice and the response of the controls. It has more funky effects and strobe lights than ever before. But I will say this Tap Tap Revenge Tour is easily the most impressive looking game in the Tap Tap series. I am not saying that the graphics are bad, but things move so fast that when you are in a game you really do not care abut the backgrounds. Music rhythm games are never about the graphics and this game is no different. Well Tap Tap Revenge Tour is doing all it can to make the series what it once was. Many people thought that once Disney got involved with the Tap Tap series that it kind of lost its way. This latest one has all the signs that it is going to be every bit as big as the others. You may think that around 20 games over a four year period are too much for the market, but there is clearly millions and millions of people who do not think this as the Tap Tap series of music games just keeps racking up the downloads.
